Open Collaborations

This is a page for small game ideas I've had that I'd like to collaborate on.

They are estimated to be doable in a few months of part-time and do not involve big challenges on my part, but could still be meaningful, if small, experiences.

They may also be a twist on something I've worked on, a path not taken, while still reusing components.

Best way to contact me is to e-mail me. If I don't reply, for some reason, try to my itch.io page.

Hildegard von Bingen on Recorder

Looking for: 2D illustrator/animator.

A straightforward flute/recorder rhythm game based on the music and illuminated manuscripts of Hildegard von Bingen.
Basic idea is to take a similar loop to The Magic Flute's, but focus on a very different theme.

You can hear her music (by a recorder player and by a choral ensemble).

Visual style would follow medieval manuscripts (not sure if I should update the notation to modern day or leave it as it was for authenticity) as well as the illuminations of her visionary manuscripts.

Gamelan

Looking for: 2D illustrator/animator, musician with experience/interest in gamelan (preferrably indonesia/balinese)

Basic idea is to make a rhythm game out of traditional Balinese gamelan.

Game can work on a keyboard, but a physical controller (harduino, midi, etc;) would be very interesting to try out, with the layout of a xylophone or gamelan instruments.

You can hear a full ensemble here:

The basic patterns are surprisingly simple, from what I've seen (although they can be tricky to play fast), but the complexity comes from the ensemble playing together, as all the small repetitive patterns interlock.

Visual style is to emulate traditional Wayang (shadow puppet theater), enacting stories from the Hindu epics (Ramayana, Mahabharata).

Generative Art Tool Thing

Nothing specific, here, but if you liked my algorithmic art tools and have an ideia you would like to work with me on, feel free to drop me an e-mail! :)

I'm always interested in trying out new ideas.
